I'm not on Hiatus

Wed Aug 26, 2009, 4:29 PM

  • Listening to: game music...
  • Reading: various
  • Watching: Mythbusters
  • Playing: various
  • Eating: foodstuffs...
  • Drinking: tang and lemonade
Okay,

the first part of this bit -

Its as it says, although I haven't posted anything up in a little while; I am not necessarily on hiatus.

I AM however facing a strangely potent art block - I thought I was over it...but I can't seem to get anything going...

on top of that...I've doodled up waaaay too many versions of my bloody Saiyuki piece now....and I still can't seem to get one I want to run with...argh.

Dammitall...

And there it is. Another flippin' art block, I know it sounds like a cop-out right now, but i'm serious. The part that sucks more than having it is the fact that they're happening more often...

I don't know if this is a sign that I DO need a hiatus - or if I need a way to recharge my head.

Guess only time can tell...

Thanks for stickin' around folks

Randomness:

Tsundere

the character type that's seemingly skyrocketed in popularity...

why?

that's what I wanna know...anyone have any decent answers out there?

personally, i'm a fan of the less loved,, over HERE anyway - Yamato Nadeshiko...when written WELL.

This is because I like subtlety. A good Yamato Nadeshiko, is in fact - calm, humble, sweet, and highly supportive. She isn't however, as many here mistake...a DOORMAT.

A proper nadeshiko by definition, needs to be able to protect herself and her family at a level that's equal to her companion if not more...the latter in particular if she has children. On top of that, the nadeshiko was SUPPOSED to keep her companion in check. The trick here, is that she was advised to do it whilst saving face...classic Japanese mindset. Contrary to the belief that she's supposed to let everyone walk over her...not at all. If written out properly, anyone who tries to walk over her, or should her partner do something he shouldn't...she'll stop them flat, and they won't know the better.

Hell, this is what the naginata was created for...

And no, i'm not supporting "women should be subservient" by saying this. I like female characters with heart and gusto -and in fact, I really dislike 'doormat' types...I just have no love for those intent on forcing a potential interest to 'reap a reward' for getting past her temperamental side.

As such...I will always have a soft spot for Belldandy...the ultimate example of this character type...get between her and Keiichi..and god knows what catastrophic-universe-bending-disasters will come about...literally.

Oh, and by extension, I prefer the more graceful Lady of War type (fights with a dignified calm and grace - with mid-to-long range weapons) - the rpg equivalent to this - as opposed to the Bruiser/Outright Action Girl.
Manifests in that my two of my favorite rpg females include...Mitsuru Kirijo of Persona 3 (tall, cool, uses a rapier...has ice magic no less...) and Yui of Xenogears (dedicated housewife of the world's second best swordsman...who's the best? ...her of course...she beat him and married him afterwards lol).

This is probably an extension for my utter distaste for extended relationship drama and love-triangles/squares/pentagons/etc.

As such...don't expect any complicated romances from me lol - all of my characters will have established significant others.

I like your Unicycle girls, they are an interesting idea blending a sport bike (or any bike) with a unicycle.

Keep up the work!
:iconpaperfiasco:
thanks, very much! the set is actually unfinished...I'd like to re-do Black and add a Yellow and a Violet to the mix...

appreciate the support!

Hey! Haven't heard from you in forever.
I'm doing well, hope you are too. I'm just pretty dead on Dev lately. My tablet isn't working 100% properly anymore. And my scanner is in my parents garage somewhere. XD

Not to mention I have no internet of my own to speak of. Haha. How are things with you? =)

Hey, your work is amazing. Mind if i ask how long you've been drawing for? And how did you get so skilled with the colour/ink thing, it seems to be a hopeless case for me.
:iconpaperfiasco:
Ah, thanks! to answer that, i've been drawing for over 15-16 years at least.

As for skill with markers and ink, well, honestly - I say this, work with every medium out there until you find the one you personally feel most comfortable. That's how I found I was comfy with markers - I used color pencils, pastels, various paints, and proper inks...until a friend of mine showed me to some good markers...and I ran with it from there.

Hope that helps ^_^
